PSD2 – Strong Customer Authentication
A new European regulation (Payment Services Directive 2/ PSD2) relating to payment services comes into force on 14 September 2019. This will affect the whole banking industry, and will further protect your online banking and payments.
These new regulations will affect your use of our Online Banking Services – Mobile Banking and Internet Banking.
From July 2019 onwards, when you log in, and make certain online payments, you may be asked for additional security, as well as your current log on details. This extra security layer is to apply what is known as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). You may have used or seen this on other websites called Two Factor Authentication, and it helps fight fraud by strengthening your existing log on details.
Short on time and can’t get in to see us? Don’t worry, you can access your account with us online at a time and place that suits you. Once you are registered for Online Banking you can manage your account whilst you’re on the move!
- Check your account balances and latest transactions
- Apply for a loan
- View and print a statement
- Transfer funds from your credit union account
- Lodge money into your credit union account from a bank or building society account
- Pay bills or transfer funds to 3rd parties online
Electronic Funds Transfer
You can transfer funds electronically from your credit union account to a bank account of your choice in a safe, and convenient way. Simply call into to us to set up your EFT or if you’re too busy to get to one of our branches, you can set up an EFT through your Online Banking account.
You can also transfer funds from your bank into your credit union account through Online Banking or credit transfer at your bank branch – all you need is your credit union BIC and IBAN numbers, which you can get by contacting us.
Please note, that if you have a number of accounts with us, for example Shares, Loan and CU Cash it is important that you contact the branch in advance of sending funds into your account using your IBAN/BIC so we can correctly disburse your funds into the account(s) that you specify.
Standing Orders can be set up by members so that regular payments can be made from your bank account into your credit union savings account or off your loan for fixed amounts. You set it up with your bank and only you can make changes to it. You will need your credit union BIC and IBAN numbers, which you can find on any of your transaction receipts, or you can call us on 045 879 622.
Direct Debits In: A Direct Debit can be set up to deduct money automatically from your bank account into your credit union account on a regular basis – weekly, fortnightly or monthly. This is a great way to make your loan repayments. All you need to do is complete a Direct Debit Mandate return it to us and we’ll do the rest!
Direct Debits Out: Direct debits can also be set up to make sure that your bills are paid regularly and on time. A Direct Debit can be set up to pay any service provider from you credit union account and is a simple and reliable way of making repayments for your bills. To set one up all you need to do is provide the service provider with your credit union BIC & IBAN numbers, which you can get by contacting us.
* We will charge an admin fee of €3.30 for Bounced Direct Debits. Please note, it can take up to 7 days for your bank to set up a DD, so there may be an interim period where payments will have to be made in some other way.
Regular Bill Payments
Regular bill payments can also be set up from your credit union account. Simply call in to us to set up your bill payment or if you’re too busy to get to one of our branches, you can set bill payments up through your Online Banking account.
