Giving Tuesday, is an international day of giving, at the beginning of the Christmas holiday season. It happens on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States.
It’s a day where organisations, individuals and volunteer groups give back to the community in some way whether it’s through time, support, or donations to those in need.
We love the idea, and it’s exactly what we’re all about at the Credit Union, supporting the community. We already give thousands in the way of donations to local groups and charities, but we love the idea of giving back in other ways, through our time or by helping raise awareness.
So, we have decided to adapt the #GivingTuesday campaign for one day every month, all year round by either volunteering at a local charity or community based organisation, showing support through sponsorship and/or awareness, or giving thanks to those that help better our community in some way.
Some of our team already contribute to our local community. Sean, our CEO is a scout leader for Rathangan scouts and John, our lending manager mentors the u-11 football team for Two-Mile-House on a weekly basis. Cora in Operations, mentors the underage camogie team in Nurney, while Teresa, one of our Team Leaders also volunteers with her local Scout group.
To kick start our #Giving campaign, a few members of our team are delighted to be volunteering for Down Syndrome Kildare. We’ll be taking the children on a day trip to Lullymore Farm, and we can’t wait!
We really want to make a difference in our member’s communities and support in more ways than just making donations. So, we’re going to get #Giving, and we hope you will follow us along the way.
Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference.
