Michael Mullan

This month as part of our #GivingTuesday campaign, we are donating to the Michael Mullan Cancer Fund. We are happy to be supporting such a strong young man, whose fight and courage is inspirational.

Michael (Mick) is a local 26 year old who is battling cancer for the third time. Michael was diagnosed with neuroblastoma as a baby with a 1 in 4 chance of survival. He fought the illness with chemotherapy, surgery and a bone marrow transplant and thankfully survived. He remained cancer free until the age of 22. Michael was studying Law & Business in Trinity College when he was sadly diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma which required surgery. Despite this life threatening illness, he managed to graduate with top grades, earning him a scholarship to Harvard Law School to complete his masters in Law.

He moved to Boston with his girlfriend Mel, and after only 4 months was diagnosed with a rare form of metastasized renal cell cancer. Fortunately, Michael was in a city where new treatments were approved for this type of cancer which is not available in Ireland today. His doctors have advised him that he will need to remain in the U.S. to continue receiving life-saving treatment.

A staggering €52k has been raised for Michael so far, with donations and support received from family, friends, and people who have heard his story. This #GivingTuesday we’re donating to the Michael Mullen Cancer Fund to help Michael in his fight. If anyone would like to donate, please visit Michael’s Go Fund Me page at https://www.gofundme.com/michaelmullanscancerfund

“There should never be a price put on someone’s life, but for me that’s my reality.”

We’re very happy to be able to sponsor Michael and wish him the very best with his treatment in the U.S.
